A new report from Windows Central suggests Microsoft is currently testing the Career system in Xbox Live. If that is the case, it could point to the company debuting the system alongside Redstone 4. The next major Windows update is due to drop this spring, giving Microsoft time to finalize the Career concept. Xbox Corporate Vice President Mike Ybarra hinted towards the Career direction last summer. He said the company was working on changing the Achievement system. Ybarra said the company was “working towards a bigger, more meaningful change about somebody’s gaming accomplishments in history, as a gamer on Xbox.” So is Career an addition to the Achievement system of a complete overhaul with new name? Ybarra hinted the new system will be more dynamic in showing who a player is as a gamer through their accomplishments. “We can do a lot more to reflect and let people show their gaming history and their status. Whether it’s somebody who only plays multiplayer in Halo 5 at a professional level, maybe they only have 2,000 Gamerscore, you want to be able to celebrate that person. You want people to be in the know. This person doesn’t play a lot of games, but they’re world top ten at Halo 5?.
Joining Achievements
The Career system would introduce the clearer accomplishments model. Players will apparently be able to gain prestige ranks, gain new levels, and get loot rewards that feature design changes for your Avatar. Windows Central says Career will not replace Achievement entirely, but will improve the system through Xbox Live.
